Way To A Glowing Summer Skin

Everybody loves their first tan of the summer season. Something about having a
sunkissed glow brings out the true feeling of summer. But nobody likes to burn or peel;
two very common results of overexposure to the sun. There is a way to protect your skin
from the sun’s harmful UV rays while allowing yourself to get a nice, golden tan. It will take
longer for your skin to darken, but it’s better than risking your protection from the sun.

To begin, use a water resistant sunscreen between 15-30 SPF, and apply it about 20
minutes before going under the sun. Forget the SPF 4, 8, and 10. Contrary to popular
belief, the difference in Sunscreen is not how powerful the SPF is, but how long it will
protect your skin from the sun. SPF 2 will only protect your skin for 20 minutes when SPF
30 will protect your skin for 30 times that amount. So, ditch the low SPF for the summer
and reapply as much as needed. Hawaiian Tropic’s new Shimmer Effects come in SPF
20 and provide an additional shimmery glow on your skin; perfect for picking up the natural
golden tones than come out while you tan. And don’t forget about your lips! Protect them
from being chapped by wearing lip balm with SPF 15.

After-sun care is just as important as when your skin is actually being exposed to UV
rays. A long day at the beach will drain your skin of moisture, the key ingredient to keep
your tan lasting and peel-free. After showering, lather your body with an aloe-based
lubricant to keep moisture locked in. Your skin will be soft, smooth, and have that natural
summer glow you’ve been waiting for all year.
